"To me, Korea is..." MOFA video contest entry

"To me, Korea is..." MOFA video contest entry

In only a few days, my job as an English teacher in Korea will end. I will leave Busan and return to Canada for a month of relaxation and reunions with family and friends. Then, in September, I'll be off on my next adventure to teach English in Morocco.

As I prepare to leave South Korea, the country I have called home for the last 18 months, I've decided to put a video together reflecting my time here. I've entered this video in a contest being hosted by South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Only a few days remain before the contest closes but, with more than 600 entrants already, there's no guarantee my video will earn a prize.

Still, I think it's something worth sharing with all of you. It'll give you a taste of what life has been like for me in Korea. I'll likely create more similar videos over the next month, but this is a good start. Enjoy!

"Playing With Puppies" - Watch this adorable video!

I was walking through Busan's Gamcheon Cultural Village on Sunday afternoon with my friend Eugene when we came across these adorable puppies. I couldn't resist!
Also, here are a few photos I took of Gamcheon Cultural Village that day with my GoPro Hero3+ camera. It's definitely a must-see place in Busan. Formerly a refugee town, it recently received a makeover thanks to a city-funded project and is now a thriving artists' community. Oddly enough, its colourful, layered buildings remind me a lot of Oia's cavehouses.

"Team Barefoot" -- Sheila Busteed's debut short film

On June 21-22, 2014, I had the pleasure of tagging along with an amazing group of people as they competed in the Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race. The majority of the team members had only a month's worth of experience (or less), but they were led by the experienced and talented Jaeho "Captain Barefoot" Lee.

After two days of racing in the ORC class competing against 14 professional racing teams, Team Barefoot finished in 11th place out of 15 boats -- pretty impressive for a team with so little practice!

As the team's official photographer and documentarian, it was my job to somehow maintain my own balance and hold on for dear life while also operating a camera. Phew!

It was an intense experience and one I'll never forget. I managed to turn it into a pretty awesome GoPro video, which serves as my directorial debut. Enjoy!
